WEAVER Lorna Cloke will be presenting her latest colourful collection of work next week.

Lorna, who is weaver in residence at Paradise Mill Museum, launched her latest exhibition of textiles in the Silk Museum today (Tuesday).

"Inherent embellishment" will feature her new woven and knitted fabrics, which promise to be "visually exciting, inspiring and stimulating."

Motivated by the desire to touch, Lorna designs her work in beautiful colour harmonies, which are made into scarves and simple tote bags.

In her innovative designs she tries to strive against the production of traditional flat cloths and is more inspired by organic forms.

Lorna graduated from Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with Honours in Fashion and Textile Design, and a Student Design Award presented by the Royal Society for the Arts.

The 25-year-old arrived from Somerset to become artist in residence at Paradise Mills over two years ago, and is quickly becoming recognised on the local arts scene for her innovative designs.

Everyone will have the chance to meet her at the exhibition, where they can get behind her ideas and even commission their own original handcrafted accessories.

The event will run from October 29 until December 8 at the Museum on Old Park Lane. Opening times Monday to Saturday are 11am to 5pm, and on Sunday 1pm to 5pm.

Admission is £3 for adults and £2 concessions.
