A heritage exhibition is set to open at Charles Roe House.

The team at Incubation Arts are opening up the former home of Macclesfield industrialist Charles Roe, who brought the silk industry to Macclesfield, for the new exhibition in the Chestergate building.

It’s been organised as part of the Heritage Open Days project, which takes place across the country.

There will be an exhibition on Charles Roe, photos of Macclesfield by Brian Ollier and visitors will also be able to enjoy the ongoing display of Joy Division photographs by Martin O Neill.

A new selection of wood carvings from the old Macclesfield School of Carving, from around 1850 to the early 1900s, will also go on display, including furniture, picture frames and clocks.

Also taking place is a ‘Lustre’ art exhibition by ArtsXstra and guests.

Julie Hamer, from Incubation Arts, said: “We’ve really enjoyed bringing everything together and setting out a display for the School of Carving.

“This is a set of heritage exhibitions for Macclesfield to be proud of.”

Charles Roe House is open 11am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday, from September 10 to October 4.
