It's less than three weeks until Macclesfield comes alive for this year’s Barnaby Festival.

As well as a huge range of workshops, concerts and performances, there is a host of free activities for the family to enjoy over the festival’s Big Weekend, which runs from June 21 to 23.

Lynne Jones, festival chairwoman, said: “There are some really top class acts and lots of free family fun to be had over the Big Weekend, including Macc’s own homegrown Metamorph-Fest fete on Christ Church lawns on the Saturday, and really unusual street entertainers like The Science Busker and the return of the People’s Pianos – this year painted by graffiti artists.”

Aileen McEvoy, Barnaby Trustee and co-ordinator of StreetFest said: “We’ve got some superb acts for 2013; an escapologist; a card sharp, the wonderful Nantwich Freerunners and lots of local dance. Visitors to Macc this Barnaby are in for a real treat.”

Free events include The Carnival Parade, where hundreds of colourful and musical Maxonians with push floats and giant puppets take to the town centre, Macc-tivity! sport and games, including a climbing wall, tug-o-war and tent-pitching competition, and StreetFest.
