Two friends are hosting a coffee afternoon to raise money for cancer care.

Francesca Robinson and Kayleigh Welsh, both 27, want to raise as much as they can at their event in aid of Macmillan.

Francesca, of Lord Street, Macclesfield, said: “Our families have been affected by cancer and Macmillan have helped out, so it’s our way of giving something back for all their hard work.

“We have done previous Macmillan events but wanted to raise as much money as possible with this one, as they are such a worthy charity.

“There will be endless amounts of homemade cakes, tea, coffee and juice. It should be a great community event.”

The event at Langley Village Hall, on Langley Road, features a raffle with donated prizes.

Francesca said: “We’ve had some amazing prizes for from businesses in the area, with something for everyone.

“We are still accepting raffle prizes if any businesses would like to donate. The more prizes we have the more money we raise.

“We’ve put posters up in the area and will email or deliver posters to anyone willing to put one up in their place of work or public area. Please come down to help us raise as much money as possible. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and this is a way of giving back to a charity that has helped our families out personally.

“Please spread the word with friends and family, invite them to the event and bring them down on the day. Everyone is welcome.”

The coffee event is on Sunday between 1pm and 4pm. Raffle tickets cost £1 and are available from Francesca or Kayleigh via the event Facebook page.
