He is the world’s most expensive teenage footballer reportedly earning a more than £100,000 a week.

However, judging by his appearance as he stepped out in town yesterday, United star Luke Shaw can’t be spending much of it on clothes.

The 19 year-old left-back, was spied as he pulled up in his club issued Chevorolet Captiva 4x4 before going shopping at his local Tesco in Wilmslow.

However his style left a lot to be desired, with the Reds ace shunning designer labels in favour of a more casual look.

And he seemed unconcerned about his image as walked around the supermarket in just tracksuit bottoms and a black hoody.

The England defender has struggled to nail a place in the United starting XI since his £27 million move from Southampton in the summer.

He featured in yesterday’s 2-0 FA Cup win at Yeovil however had to be substituted after boss Louis Van Gaal said he suffered an ankle injury.

And one onlooker said: “He was definitely walking quite gingerly and hesitantly.

“He was also drinking a lot of water - he obviously wanted to make sure he stayed hydrated seen as he’s injured.”
