ANDREW and Olivia Norbury, both 42, run Chapel Wood Farm in Chelford, and have lived in the village for 14 years. Their dynamic local business includes pigs, cattle, free range hens and sheep.

They also sell hanging baskets and bedding plants and, in the winter, Christmas trees.

The couple, who have three children – Frances, 20, Maisie, 18, and Harry, 15 – were married in 1987. Andrew is the youngest-ever chairman of Chelford Parish Council and Olivia, who was born in the village, is a member of the steering group for the parish plan.

They are both landscaping contractors by profession and met in a pub when they were 18.

The best thing about Macclesfield is...

ON: The people. I met some fantastic friends and neighbours when we lived in the town. When you’ve lived in London for five years, the people ‘Up North’ are definitely the funniest and the most friendly.

AN: It gave us the chance to get on the property ladder and no matter which way you travel, you are only minutes away from open countryside.

The worst thing about Macclesfield is...

ON: The shops. The choice is fairly limited and even the high street brands are too small, but I’m not good at shopping anyway. I once wandered into Next to discover I was in the middle of a mid-season sale/scrum and had to lie down in a dark room to get over the experience.

AN: Sadly, the increasing reports of crime and drugs.

My favourite place in Macclesfield is...

ON: South Park. It kept me sane when I became a new mum and knew no one in town.

AN The hills – the walks are great and some of the real ale even better.

Ideally I would spend every day...

ON: Sitting in the sunshine, taking long lunches and leisurely walks in the countryside with Andrew, Fran, Maisie, Harry and the dogs.

AN: Seeing more of my family and helping others less fortunate than myself.

My favourite night out is...

ON: Anywhere with good company, great food and very cold white wine.

AN: A nice meal out with a group of friends and a taxi home.

The best holiday I have ever been on was...

ON: Cyprus 2007. Just us two on our honeymoon. We waited 20 years, but it was worth it.

AN: Cyprus 2007 – our honeymoon 20 years late.

If money was no object I would...

ON: Spend every day sitting in the sunshine, taking long lunches and leisurely walks in the countryside with my family and dogs ....then of course, I would buy my way into the Houses of Parliament, sort out the horrible mess this country is in, and make sure everyone had food on the table.

AN Buy a property abroad and give lots to charity.

My one piece of advice would be...

ON: Never have any regrets; they are negative and will only make you unhappy. Whatever you want to achieve, go for it - anything’s possible.

AN: Respect your elders and learn from them.

My first job was...

ON: As a Nanny in London – the loneliest city on Earth.

AN Working on my father’s farm. When he retired, farming was in a bad way and I was devastated that I couldn’t afford to take the tenancy on and keep up the family tradition.

If I could do one thing again...

ON: I would really appreciate every moment with my three children when they were younger. I love being a mum and am proud of all of them, but the teenage years have been a really testing time and I’ll be glad when it’s over.

AN Marry Olivia, even though we have done it twice already! We renewed our vows in summer 2006 and I’d do that every year if I could.

What I am reading now is...

ON: Practical Poultry! We have just gone into free range eggs and will be raising free range chickens too.

AN: I’m not a big reader through lack of time, but I keep on top of current affairs and have to wade through parish council literature.

On my CD player is...

ON: Anything by The Jam or The Clash or..(cringe)..Don Mclean.

AN Don McLean. We went to see him at The Albert Hall last year, although the kids would rather no one knew.

My favourite TV show is ...

ON: Anything with Julie Walters in it, and if they bring back Big Brother one more time, I may not be responsible for my actions – utter dross.

AN: ‘I’m a Celebrity ....’ – not that many of them are. I also like Question Time.

My biggest inspiration has been ...

ON: Andrew. I haven’t got room to explain just how amazingly wonderful he is as a husband, father and person, he makes me believe I can achieve anything.

AN: Olivia. She has given me more confidence, loads of support and most importantly, three great kids. She has been my rock.

If I could have anyone round for tea...

ON: Freddie Mercury (Queen), Joe Strummer (The Clash) and Bruce Foxton (The Jam) singing Bohemian Rhapsody very loudly into empty wine bottles.

AN: Gordon Brown. My evening would be far more enjoyable than his – guaranteed.
