The Silk museum is once again giving aspiring artists the opportunity to display their work.

The Macclesfield Open Art Exhibition, which will be on display over the Christmas period, showcases emerging talent and gives local artists the opportunity to exhibit.

Organisers are now calling for people to submit their masterpieces for this year’s event.

Organiser Geoff Archer said: “Last year more than 180 works from almost 300 submitted were exhibited and the standard of the work was extremely high.”

There are also five awards to be won, including the Macclesfield Open Award - £300 - and two £100 Highly Commended Awards (chosen by the judges). There’s also a £100 award chosen and donated by Mail Boxes Etc. and a Visitors’ Choice award, voted for by visitors to the exhibition. There is no age restriction. The exhibition will be at the Silk Museum from Saturday, December 10, until Saturday, January 21 next year. Work must be submitted on Friday or Saturday, November 18/19, at the Silk Museum on Park Lane, between 10.30am and 3pm.

Entry forms and guidelines are available from libraries, Visitor Information Centres and museums in the area and are available to download from http://www.silkmacclesfield.org.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/open-art .
