A fault in a electrical box sparked a roof fire at a Macclesfield school.

Firefighters were called after reports of a roof fire at All Hallows Roman Catholic School, Brooklands Avenue, yesterday at 7.30am.

They found fire damage to a square foot of the roof and a plastic water pipe.

The fire is believed to have started around the electrical junction box.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check the roof for spots of fire.

Two fire engines from Macclesfield attended.
