DRESSING to impress is a prerequisite for glamorous actress Denise Welch.

As the party season gets underway and with a number of charity events in her diary, the pressure is on for the actress to stand out on the red carpet.

With magazines and potential paparazzi standing in the wings, it’s a fashion faux pas to be seen out and about in repeat outfits.

So while supporting charity Marie Curie Cancer Care, Denise has stayed close to home shopping in its Alderley Edge branch to be kitted out in the season’s best.

She said: "I go in there off and on. Because we live in quite an affluent area, I know a lot of people are horrified at wearing the same thing twice.

"I’ve got quite a few evening dos to buy for this year and I can’t afford lots of new clothes."

She added: "I got a long black coat for £40. It looked like it had never been worn and it still had the original price tag of £210 on it.

"I just know I’m going to get lots of wear out of it."

While Denise has used the London Road shop in her quest to restock her wardrobe, the branch is opening its doors late next Thursday, November 29 when it hosts a Dress to Impress evening.

Former Coronation Street star Denise, who has been filming for TV drama Waterloo Road and has started filming for the next series of Loose Women this week, said: "The Dress to Impress evening will be the perfect opportunity to put together a few outfits for the party season.

"There are all kinds of bargains available at the Marie Curie Cancer Care shop.

"But the outfits will not just be great value - everything bought in the shop will help provide Marie Curie nurses, who care for people with terminal illnesses at home, surrounded by the people they love."

Branch manager Linda Jones said: "Christmas is a great time of the year to support Marie Curie Cancer Care. Most of us want to be at home at Christmas and Marie Curie nurses make this wish a reality for people with cancer and other terminal illnesses."

The Dress to Impress event takes place at the Marie Curie Cancer Care shop at 40 London Road, Alderley Edge on Thursday, November 29 from 5pm to 8pm.

Refreshments will be served and a tombola will also take place during the evening.
