BARRISTER John Bromley Davenport has been appointed Queen's Counsel.

John is the cousin of Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire William Bromley Davenport.

The 52-year-old father-of-three lived in Macclesfield for a number of years. He was born in Singapore and moved to the UK at the age of 12.

He was educated at Eton and although he planned to become an actor, he later decided to study as a barrister.

He said: "I have never regretted the decision, it is a wonderful job. Especially when things go right."

But John has managed to maintain his love of the theatre and often performs on one man shows including A Christmas Carol.

John, who is married to Judy, joined Dean's Court Chambers in Manchester in 1972 and specialised in crime. He became a Recorder in 1989 sitting at courts on the Northern Circuit.
