A WILMSLOW family is in a triumphant spin after a triple pedal power victory.

All three brothers from the Braybrooke family stunned the cycling world when they scored a hat- trick to become national schooolboy UK champions.

All three are the best all-round cyclists in their age group in the whole of the country.

Christian, 11, Alex, nine and Matthew, seven, of Broadway, made a clean sweep in all eight categories demanded in the British Schools Cycling Association national championships.

Proud dad, Phil, 45 and mum Susan ,44, both management consultants, said the boys had taken up cycling when they were tots and had enjoyed being in the saddle ever since.

They are members of the Youth Track Cycling Club at the Velodrome, Eastlands, Manchester, where they train three times a week.

The brothers, pupils at St Anne's School, Fulshaw, have been taking part in competitive cycling under the stewardship of a coach and support team at the Velodrome.

Fittingly their triumph came in the week the formidable Tour de France got under way in London.

And they have been glued to their television screen watching the progress of favourites Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins.

"The boys love cycling and are keen to watch their heroes," said dad, also a keen cyclist. But like all other boys of their age they play football, swimming, enjoy computer games and music, he said.

As a hobby cycling is a family affair and all six, including mum, can often be seen pedalling together on the open roads around Wilmslow on two tamdems, frequently with a trailer for younger sister ,Olivia, aged five.

They have accumulted dozens of bikes and are grateful for help from Rick Green Cycles at Handforth for keeping the kit road worthy.

Paul Green, 43, said: "It is a tremendous achievement. The lads are great track cyclists and do a lot of road work.

"They have put in some hard work and deserve this victory."

He added: " Phil is a dedicated dad and does a lot to help other young cyclists who want to progress in this sport."
