A POYNTON High School pupil who is being backed by superstar Bee-Gee Robin Gibb has proved she is "Stayin' Alive" in the record business.

Teenage songstress Vicki Nolan, 16, of Waterloo Road has recorded a song on a soundtrack for a forthcoming blockbuster film.

She has recorded the tune "Something Stronger" for the new Chevy Chase movie "The Great Goose Caper", and she may even be set to perform for the new Bridget Jones movie soundtrack.

Last week Vicki swapped her desk at Poynton High for the glamour of a TV studio where she was a guest on Melinda Messenger's "Loose Lips" show.

But the determined diva vows that despite her up and coming stardom, she'll be keeping her feet firmly on the ground.

Talking exclusively to the Macclesfield Express, Vicky said: "It's all very exciting, and I'm having a great time meeting people in the record business.

"But I'm still due to sit my exams next year and I know there's a lot of hard work ahead. I want to be a success but I still want to hang around with my friends and do normal things."

Vicky, who lives with her mum April and dad Kevin made her first appearance on national TV when she was five, before going on to win awards for dancing and choreography.

She began singing at eight, and counts Motown legends such as Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick and Diana Ross as her idols.

She has since played to audiences of thousands, including a performance at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane in London and live performances on radio stations Rock FM and BBC GMR.

And now she will record her debut album under the direction of former Bee Gee Robin Gibb, which is being produced in Denmark, LA and London.

She said: "I'm very excited about what lies ahead. I've always dreamed of being a pop star since I was little. Everyone has been very supportive and I'm having a great time."
