The line-up for the Macclesfield Express stage at the Concert in the

Park has been revealed – and it’s bursting with local talent.

Macclesfield band Rough Twist was chosen by our very own columnist Garry the Hat to headline our Live and Local stage.

They will follow Bad Blood, The Gracies, and Stellar, who will all prove why grass roots music is going strong in the town.

Ross Massey, 33, bassist with Rough Twist, said: "I can’t wait, it’s going to be brilliant.

"You can’t beat live music.

"I’m really nervous but it is going to be such a buzz, we are expecting quite a lot of people there - it will definitely be the biggest crowd any of us have played to."

He added: "It’s a fantastic opportunity for all of the bands because we will be reaching a huge audience who wouldn’t necessarily go and support local music.

"After we played at the Barnaby Festival Magpie music sold out of our album, which is fantastic."

The party at West Park takes place on August 14, with our own champion of local music Garry the Hat presenting the Live and Local stage after handpicking the acts himself.

Garry said: "Live music always gets me excited. Bands like Rough Twist and Stellar are always a pleasure to see, and I am excited to see the new bands live."

The Macclesfield bands will be playing alongside tribute acts to ABBA, Lady Gaga and the Rat Pack, which featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr, which will be opened by another local band The David International.

See next week’s paper for a feature on all the bands.
