The two King’s Girls’ Division pupils went to Toni and Guy’s on Mill Street to donate two feet of beautiful healthy auburn and sandy blonde hair for the Little Princesses Charity which makes wigs for children with cancer.

Both the glamorous girls had been growing their hair for over five years and never had anything but a tidy and trim since they became friends in King’s Girls.

Esther Wain and Emily Naismith had their luscious locks lopped off to raise over £1,000 for charity.

Esther, 16, from Bosley, who has just completed 10 GCSEs, dreamed up the idea in memory of her grandma Mary, whose life was cut short by cancer and said before the grand snip: “I’ve been waiting to do this for three years and must admit I am a little nervous.

After the locks had been cut, tied up in pony tails and sent off to the charity, Esther said: “Hair is very important to a girl and makes you feel special, but I want someone else who is having a tough time to feel special too. My hair will grow.”

Her great friend Emily had the idea to team up with Esther, form Wilmslow, for the event.
