A kindhearted teen used her birthday money to help the terminally ill.

Molly Makepeace, of Buxton Road, told her family and friends that instead of presents for her 15th birthday she wanted the cash to donate to East Cheshire Hospice.

She then dropped in the donation of £140 to the hospice.

Her proud mum Nicola said: “Molly was made aware of East Cheshire Hospice at school and wanted to make sure all of her birthday money went to help the patients and their families.

“What Molly did was so caring and considerate. As a family we are very proud.”

Meanwhile, generous Leek United customers showed the colour of their money in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice.

The Macclesfield branch held a ‘Yellow Day’ where staff wore yellow clothes, sold raffle tickets and laid on yellow-themed refreshments, including cakes for visitors in exchange for donations.

Along with the Congleton branch almost £130 was raised.

Customer adviser Veronica ‘Ronnie’ McNeil said: “As always, our customers generously supported us.”

Camilla Crockett, community relationships manager at East Cheshire Hospice, said: “Yellow is an inspiring colour – bright, cheerful and sunny. These are all things that East Cheshire Hospice aims to be for our patients and families.

“We try our very best to make each and every day as bright and cheery as possible, and Yellow Day is all about spreading this cheer around the whole of East Cheshire.

“We would like to say a big thank you to Leek United and their customers for their ongoing support.”
