Students at All Hallows have again performed well in a wide range of GCSE Level subjects.
The 203 students notched up an overall pass rate of 76percent for five or more A*-C passes, with nearly 70pc of students gaining five or more A*-C including both English and mathematics.
Tony Billings, Principle at All Hallows, said: “We are delighted with our students’ results which are well above the nationally expected rates of progress in English and Mathematics. We are also delighted with results across the board which demonstrates how the College is providing a well-rounded education which helps all students reach their potential.”
The highest performing male student was James Musgrave with 12 GCSEs at A* and the highest performing female student was Rebecca Lynch with 10 GCSEs at A* and 2 at A.
James said :”I am on top of the world with my results. I would like to say a big thank you to my teachers for all their support. I’m looking forward to studying English, history, philosophy and mathematics in our Sixth Form.”
And despite nursing a broken collar bone prior the the exams, Madeleine O’Connor did fantastically well, gaining 7A*s and 4A’s.
She said: “I am delighted with my results as I was determined that nothing would stop me from getting my target grades.
“I’m really looking forward to continuing my studies. The teachers at All Hallows are second to none and I love the College.’
Special congratulations are also due to the high flyers who gained seven or more A*-A passes: Aidan Briggs, Roisin Conry, Darcy Fowler, Phoebe Geary, Charlotte Haigh, Nathan Haigh, Thomas Hamman, Jemima Hill, Aidan Hughes, Meghan Iveson, Alexander Jones, Jacob Kalnins, Rebecca Lynch, Louisa Mackintosh, Eddie Meehan, James Musgrave, Emma Nay, Lily Nye, Madeleine O’Connor, Niamh O’Sullivan, Sophie Parry, Emily Rafferty, Jacob Smith, Millie Stanier, Jamie Webster.
A further 45pc of students achieved five or more A*-B grades.
As a specialist Business Enterprise and Language College, All Hallows is also proud of its results in languages with 75percent of students taking at least one GCSE in either French, German, Spanish, Latin or Mandarin.
This year marks the first set of results in GCSE Chinese (Mandarin) with a pass rate of 87pc at A*-C with 22pc at A*-A.
In addition the EAL students achieved outstanding results, with 11 GCSE’s for George Joseph and Aleksandra Walicka, and 10 GCSEs achieved by both Michal Sienco and Julia Rosinska.
Aleksandra said: “I am really pleased with my results, particularly my Art and English as I plan to study Art at College. I came to England in 2007, not able to speak any English, so to get a good grade at GCSE in both language and literature is wonderful. Thank you to all the teachers who gave me so much support.”
