A mum with cancer and her friends are organising a fundraiser for Macmillan to say thanks to the charity.
Nicki Newbigging, 41, says she’s overwhelmed by the love and support she’s had since she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.
Within weeks of finding a lump she had a mastectomy and is on her sixth round of chemotherapy at Macclesfield Hospital.
Her friends Nicky Makepeace, Anna Whitelaw, Rachel Fragapane, Tracy Palmer, Fay Walton, Chrissy Nadin and Rebecca Lowther got together to organise a coffee morning for the Macmillan cancer charity and to give their friend Nicky a boost.
They told her about the plans and she was delighted to get on board.
Nicky, of Buxton Road, who has children Chloe, 14, Ryan, 13 and Luke, nine with partner Mark, said: “I’m a cancer patient so I know how this affects the lives of many around us.
“I wouldn’t be able to fight this if it wasn’t for Mark and my dear friends and family and I want to say a huge thank you.
“I was a fit healthy mum, I’d never felt better and it was by luck I found the lump. I urge people to do their checks. Cancer is so frightening but there’s help out there.”
The coffee morning is at St Pauls Church hall, Glegg Street, on Saturday, October 1, with sessions from 10am to midday and midday to 2pm. Go to justgiving.com to donate.
