A football fan is to contest a nationwide order which bans him from every stadium in the country.

Cheshire Police applied to Macclesfield magistrates for the court to impose a football banning order on Lawrence Richard Carr, 22.

It followed his conviction for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Macclesfield on August 29, the same day as Macclesfield Town FC lost 2-1 to Chester FC at the Moss Rose.

Carr, of Derwent Drive, Congleton, has been banned from entering any football ground in the UK and entering any area around a stadium where Macclesfield are playing, home or away, for four hours before or four hours after kickoff.

He appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on October 9 and was bailed to appear at the same court on December 17 to contest the football banning order (FBO).
