More than 20 businesses have signed up to support workers who were made redundant after the mill explosion at Bosley.
Cheshire East Council has received a number of offers of employment for the 50 staff who lost their jobs in the wake of the incident at the Wood Treatment Ltd mill.
Last week the firm, which is owned by the Boden Group, said all but six roles at the site will be made redundant.
So far a total of 22 businesses have registered potential employment opportunities including the council’s own arm’s length company Ansa Environmental Services and highways partner Ringway Jacobs.
And there is also some good news for those whose homes were destroyed by the blast.
Equity Housing Group has confirmed that it is in discussions with Cheshire East and Bosley Parish Council about giving those affected first refusal on new affordable homes on Fold lane, Bosley.
A spokesman for the housing association said it was offering two houses and a bungalow at its new Boars Leigh development.
Equity will be meeting the council over the coming weeks to firm up the deal.
