The family of Carla Rankin have revealed details of the latest events to help them raise £1m in her name.

The 27-year-old drowned after having an epileptic fit at home in Prestbury in August last year.

Now her parents Denise and Ian, and her sister Felicity, 26, have pledged to raise £1m for the charity Epilepsy Action to help others suffering from the condition.

The family took on their first event running in the Manchester 10km run in May and have more planned throughout the year.

Mum Denise said: “As you can imagine, the period since Carla’s death has been a very hard time for us, but we have been helped so much by the support. We will never get over losing Carla so suddenly but we are working hard at learning to adjust – and with the fundraising events we have planned - to keep her with us in spirit. Carla was a keen supported of Epilepsy Action, providing help and support for people diagnosed with this disorder and it also helps families cope with issues that occur or can occur as a result of epilepsy.

“The aim is to support others living with epilepsy. Our goal is to raise £1 million – in the name of Carla who was one in a million.”
