An artist has created a stunning cycling mosaic in time for the arrival of the Tour of Britain.

Debbie Tracey, 52, from The Creative Space studio in Bollington, is raffling off the piece to raise money for Brake, the road safety charity.

She was inspired to create the mosaic after the deaths of two family friends including cyclist Guy Wharton 46, from Bollington, who died after his bike was in a collision with a car on the Cat and Fiddle. The other was motorcyclist Warren Hayward, 24, from Reddish, whose also died in a road accident.

Debbie said: “Both men were totally unconnected but died as a result of a accidents and their families are two that I know and care about. With the Tour of Britain passing through the village on September 6 I kept seeing these organise bikes and was inspired to do something artistic. I also wanted to help raise awareness of road safety.”

Raffle tickets are £5 and will be on sale at Belfield’s Bakery in Bollington - where the mosaic will also on display. Tickets will also be sold at the art studio at Clarence Mill.
