police are urging top of the range car owners to be careful after a spike in thefts.

Cheshire Police have responded to calls from all over the county including Macclesfield and Poynton.

A BMW was stolen from South Mead in Poynton during the night of Wednesday, November 29.

Another was taken from a house on London Road North, Poynton on Tuesday, December 6, as well as two Range Rovers from South Park Drive, Poynton, at around 3.30am the same day.

Then last night (Wednesday,December 7) there were seven thefts from motor vehicles in Macclesfield, Alderley Edge and Wilmslow.

Police want to ensure motorists are extra vigilant, ensure their car is locked and valuables are removed from their vehicles.

A spokesman said: “Officers would ask people keep their car keys hidden away and out of sight of burglars and if they see anything suspicious to ring Cheshire Police on 101 or 999. Over the next few days there will be an increased police presence to target those responsible.”
