A fundraising campaign to buy new beds for patients at East Cheshire Hospice has surpassed the £100k mark.

The charity launched the Bed Appeal in September to raise £155,000 to replace 17 beds which are more than 10 years old.

Through donations and the successful Pyjama Party appeal the hospice has pulled in a whopping £102,880.

It means the charity can afford to buy 11 new beds, which will be more comfortable than the existing ones.

Fundraisers praised the appeal as the most successful in the history of the hospice.

The next big event in the campaign is the Winter Wonderland Ball at Mere Country Club, on November 27. The sold-out event will feature stars from Coronation Street and the Real Housewives of Cheshire and a raffle with a Ford KA Zetec from where Sydney Jackson Motors in Prestbury among the prizes.

Karyn Johnston, from the hospice, said: “Donations continue to come in at a rate of £1,500 a day, which is brilliant. It is already the best supported appeal in the history of the hospice. At this rate we might hit target in early January.”
