Macclesfield Town provided one of the great FA Cup first-round shocks when they sent Walsall crashing out of the competition following a 1-0 win at the Banks' Stadium on Saturday.
Some 46 places separate the clubs but John McCombe's first half header was enough to secure the Vanarama National League sides place in the second round draw, which will commence later on this evening.
Macclesfield are gaining themselves somewhat of a giant-killing reputation after Saturday's result having beaten Swindon and Cardiff City in the cup in recent seasons.
It wasn’t just the result John Askey was pleased about, but what the victory does for the club financially.
He said: “It is massive as it means we can pay the VAT bill this week.”
The National League Side have already earned £30,500 in prize money from just two games in the competition.
Askey added: "The FA Cup has saved the club numerous times, I remember when we played West Ham one year and if we hadn't got them in the cup, we could've gone under as a club.”
Askey is hoping for a favourable tie in the second round but seeks one of the big boys if they do proceed to make it to the third round.
"We would like one of the lower teams really (in the next round). We want to try and get to the third round, and if we can then obviously you are looking for one of the big boys," said Askey.
