Gawsworth is a small village to the south of Macclesfield, on the main road to Congleton. It is famed for Gawsworth Hall which was the home of the Fitton family. Mary Fitton is perhaps the Dark Lady of Shakespeare's Sonnets. The Richards family own the hall now and it hosts plays and concerts in the summer months.
