LITTLE did Andrew Ridgeway know, but when he entered Express Sport's autographed rugby ball competition, he would also get to rub shoulders with a World Cup winner!
Andrew, from Macclesfield, correctly identified that World Cup hero Jason Robinson plays for the Sale Sharks and was selected from hundreds of correct entries to win the Mercedes-Benz Direct competition which appeared at start of February.
In addition to receiving an official England ball signed by Jason Robinson, Richard Hill and Will Greenwood, Andrew had the added excitement of accepting his prize from Jason himself as the star took a brief break from the Six Nations tour.
As an added bonus, Jason also presented Andrew with a signed Sale Sharks rugby ball.
"I was absolutely thrilled to win the England ball," said Andrew. "Meeting Jason made it all the more special."
"I was in Australia just prior to the World Cup and was gutted that I had to leave before the matches began."
"I ended up watching the games with friends in my local pub, Porters Ale House, which is where the ball will now be put on show in a specially made display cabinet."
The prize and handover was arranged by Mercedes-Benz Direct on Ashton Old Road, Manchester, which provides Jason with a sporty Mercedes E-Class and is a corporate sponsor of the Sale Sharks.
