MACCLESFIELD Satellite Swimming Club competitors made waves in the National Age Group Championships at Sheffield's Pond's Forge.

Alice Morgan produced a personal-best to finish seventh in the 100m butterfly final in 1:10:04. The 12-year-old star then came 10th in the 200m butterfly in 2:37:02.

Promising Vicky Cotterill, aged 12, recorded a personal best of 2:36:61 when she came 19th in the 200m backstroke.

Craig Yates, 12, also produced a personal best when finished 14th in the 200m breaststroke in 2:53:70. He also swam a career best in the 100m breaststroke in 1:21:65, just missing the final by a whisker.

The trio, who aim to represent Great Britain at the London Olympics in 2012, will now look to build on their success and will hope to do even better a next year's final.

"It was an excellent achievement for all three swimmers and reward for their hard work and dedication," said head coach Farouk Graba.

"They are very talented swimmers and are all capable of a top-three finish next time."
