SOCCER: Moss has challenged Matt Tipton to establish himself as a great Macclesfield Town number nine.
Moss wants Tipton to make his mark in Division Three this season - and has moved the striker up from the number 25 shirt to emphasise the point.
The number nine shirt was left vacant at the end of last season when Richard Tracey left the Silkmen.
Moss said: "The number nine shirt is usually associated with one of the leading strikers.
"I want to put a little bit of pressure on Matt to be a real goalscorer.
"I signed him with this season in mind, although he did quite well at the end of last season, and he started getting fitter.
"He's been going well in pre-season, and so far he's been free of injuries."
Tipton's 'promotion' is one of the few changes Moss has made to his squad list from last season.
Lee Hardy takes over the number 11 shirt from Kevin Keen, while fellow new signing Paul Aldridge will be number 20.
Michael Welch moves up from 28 to 15 (Rickie Lambert's old shirt), and Danny Whitaker becomes the Silkmen's 12.
Whitaker's old number 19 shirt is vacant for a new signing - possibly Prescot Cables striker Neil Robinson.
Numbers 25 to 36 have been filled by reserve and youth team players.
But Moss has decided not to give first-choice Steve Wilson the number one shirt.
Wilson will stay at number 13, and Moss said: "I didn't really consider changing the keepers.
"I've made Willo my first-choice keeper, but he knows that could change if he has three or four nightmares. Besides, he's not superstitious."
