MACC Town keeper Steve Wilson has said banter in the dressing room is as strong as ever, despite reports of disquiet at the Moss Rose.

Last week, departing full-back Danny Adams claimed team spirit was at an all-time low at the club, but experienced stopper Wilson said he was well wide of the mark.

He told Express Sport: "You can't expect the lads to come in happy after we get beat, I don't think anyone would do."

"But the experienced players in the side like Ghandi (Martin Carruthers) and Tommy (Widdrington) and lads like Tippy (Matty Tipton) are the heart of the team and keep things bouncing along."

"There is always a bit of banter at training, and although it's hard to lose a player like Danny who was always a character, that's just the nature of football - people come and people go from clubs."

"It's disappointing that the results haven't gone our way, but we can't mope around."

Wilson's consistent form has been one of the few highlights in an otherwise disappointing season for Macc, but the message given to the players after last Saturday's defeat against Darlington was that no-one is relegated yet.

"We have still got time," said Wilson.

"John has said to go out there on Saturday, enjoy our football again and stop thinking that everything is against us."

"Football is a funny old game as they say, and one win, or one good result against Huddersfield could set us on a run."

"We have to keep plugging away and eventually our luck will change."

"We didn't play that well against Darlington, but no-one gave up and no-one stopped battling."

"Hopefully that will be enough at the end of the day."
