MACC Town Ladies played a double-header against Bolton Wanderers to catch up on a backlog of games.

Macc took the lead in both matches only to be pulled back and share the points, the second in particularly controversial circumstances.

In the opening game, the Silkgirls were dominant but had to wait until late in the first half before taking the lead with Sophie Massey's fine drive.

An evenly-fought second half saw Sue Bassett hit the bar with a header but Bolton levelled with a free-kick with 20 minutes to go.

The second game continued in the same vein and the Silkgirls opened the scoring when Vicky Jepson raced through.

Her shot was blocked by the keeper but she collected the rebound and fed Sophie Thomason to slot home.

Macclesfield continued to control the game and looked set to secure the win but, minutes from the end, Bolton were allowed to play on from a seemingly offside position and finish past the helpless Chris Riley in goal.

THE GIRLS' teams enjoyed an excellent week of cup action. The Under-14s won the first of their two cup finals with a 3-0 victory over Frodsham in the Knockout Cup.

Macclesfield led in the opening minute when Helen Moyes followed up a parry by the Frodsham goalkeeper.

Frodsham tried to get back into the game but the Macclesfield back four and goalkeeper Laura Henshaw were in fine form.

Macc made the game safe midway through the second half with a solo effort from leading goalscorer Lorraine Moss, who also had a hand in the third, a Frodsham defender turning her cross into her own goal.

MACC'S Under-10s won their Knockout Cup final against Crewe and Nantwich in an exciting tussle. At full time the score was 1-1 but Macc came into their own in the penalty shoot-out, winning 3-0. Having secured this trophy the girls go into another semi final next weekend.
