IN THEIR drawn Cricket Alliance match against Mossley, Kerridge were put in to bat.

Naeem Iqbal immediately set about the visiting attack with a quick fire 47 in the first few overs but, after he departed, the innings levelled off.

Runs were being scored but in a much quieter fashion, with Dominic Leigh (31) continuing his good form and Shane Ward finishing with 28 not out as the home side ended on 174, just missing out on the final bonus points.

Thirty extras helped Kerridge to that total. Kinsey (four for 47) and Brown (three for 31) were pick of the Mossley attack.

Mossley's reply began steadily but, as wickets began to fall it was Tony Brown who held things together with a splendid 105 not out.

Moss (18) and Ison (16) were the only others to reach double figures against the attack of Gareth Edwards (four for 70 off 19 overs) and skipper Shane Ainsworth (two for 64).

With ten required off the final over, Mossley fell short and the match ended in a draw.

• KERRIDGE'S second XI were again let down by their batting against Wirral.

A hastily-arranged scratch side reached 106 all out, Alex Grimes top-scoring with 23.

After such a disappointing performance in their innings, Kerridge's bowling attack had too little to defend and the home side knocked off the required runs for the loss of just three wickets.

Young Jack Hoyle took two of the three with the ball as Wirral made 107-3.
