Love-Leigh for Macc

MACCLESFIELD BBC boxers' latest outing, at Leigh ABC's annual show in Lowton, saw two out of three wins for the Macc lads.

First up for Macclesfield was Jake Haigh, facing L Clayton, a late substitute from Phoenix ABC.

In his second fight of the season, Haigh took his time and picked his shots. Although Clayton put him under pressure at times, Haigh came out with a points decision.

Peter Bebbington then stepped into the ring for a 'grudge' encounter with Scott Marcelsanki.

This was the third match between the two, having taken one bout each this season.

Although the home crowd were behind Marcelsanki, it was an evenly-matched slog for both fighters.

Countless combinations landed on both sides and Bebbington did enough to take the win in the final round.

Macclesfield's final competitor on the 17-match bill was Sam Bradbury.

Facing another local fighter in Mark Arden, Bradbury caught his larger opponent with a number of clean, straight shots.

Arden used his size to tie up Bradbury, who couldn't prepare properly due to a hand injury.

The judges awarded a contentious decision to the local fighter.
