PUSS in Boots completed a clean sweep of silverware after capturing their third trophy of the season in a hectic eight days.

Played on a magnificent surface at Woodley Sports, both sides played their part in an entertaining final.

Despite the Veterans' team name and an average age of 42, they also had the youngest player in their ranks, pacy 17-year-old Rory Fallon.

Puss got off to the better start and took the lead in the fifth minute. Gareth Gibbons' strong run down the left enabled Lee McIntyre to finish his cross at the far post. Both defences looked comfortable, and the game stayed at 1-0 until half-time.

Just after the break, Puss conceded a free-kick 30 yards from goal. Andy Graham fired a fizzing shot that goalkeeper Tim Mears did well to turn behind.

Relief was short lived as, from the resulting corner, John Quinn powered an unstoppable header into the net to bring the game level.

With 15 minutes remaining, Puss full-back Matt Roberts surged forward before setting up McIntyre, who confidently stroked home his second of the game.

With barely a minute left, Puss substitute Dave Clowes smashed home the third to seal the win for Nick Edge's team and end the season on a high.
