This week saw the final round of matches to decide positions behind Club AZ in the First Division, a crucial battle in the Premier League and the first of the League Cup semi-finals.

WEDNESDAY FIXTURE - PREMIER DIVISION: Puss in Boots 2-2 Poynton Nomads

Puss in Boots were looking to avenge an earlier 3-1 defeat and Nomads aimed to take the title race into the final week.

The draw was greeted with delight by the Puss and bowed heads by the visitors who felt they had let their title chance slip away. Despite the draw it is mathematically possible for Nomads to take the title, although they are left with a mountain to climb.

Nomads started the stronger, dominating play and took the lead in the 11th minute through Tom Gaskell.

Nomads led 1-0 at the break but Nick Ward rose unchallenged at a corner to power home the equaliser. It was a lead that lasted barely three minutes as Alan Hay restored the visitors' lead.

The Puss pushed forward in search of the equaliser and Dave Clowes slotted it home with nine minutes remaining.

SATURDAY FIXTURES: LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL - Puss in Boots 5-3 Lindow

THE opening exchanges in this entertaining game belonged to Lindow, Scott McGowan giving then the lead on 14 minutes with an accomplished lob.

The rest of the half belonged to the dominant Puss and a sweeping volley from Emlyn Hughes levelled matters.

It was a bad start to the second half for Lindow, who conceded two penalties in 12 minutes, both despatched by Gareth Gibbons to make it 3-1.

McGowan's second made it 3-2 midway through the second half butGibbons completed his hat-trick with the goal of the game to secure Puss' final place.

Danny Wright pulled one back on 89 minutes, but Lindow were caught out as they pushed for the equaliser, Lee McIntyre breaking clear to score.

Puss now play either Old Alts Vets or Mary Dendy in the final at Woodley Sports on May 3.

PREMIER DIVISION - Boarhound 1-2 Old Alts Vets

A disappointing end to the season for Boarhound, who conceded in the last minute, having taken the lead through Simon Band but gifted the visitors an equaliser with an own goal.

John Quinn grabbed all three points with a powerful header.

Poynton Nomads Reserves 0-1 Mary Dendy

An entertaining game at Deva Close saw both sides create chances but it was the excellent Simon Lee who grabbed the three points for the visitors, who return to Deva Close next Saturday for a rematch with the first team.

FIRST DIVISION - Club AZ 1-3 Alderley St Phillips

It was a case of after the Lord Mayor's Show for Club AZ as they succumbed to a Saints side desperate to finish runners-up after a poor first half of the season.

Bobby Modseh and Marlon Spence (2) secured the points. Will Beighton was on the score sheet for the hosts.

Poynton Kingfisher 3-1 Old Alts

The weekend's other fixture saw Kingfisher take their fifth win of the season, at home to the First Division's bottom club.
