MACCLESFIELD Boys Boxing Club entertained hundreds of boxing enthusiasts at the club's third annual show earlier this month. The Express takes a look at the talented fighters on the club's books...

The club's excellent boxers were in fine form, after head coach Kevin Bradbury matched 13 fine bouts.

The show opened with two Golden Glove bouts with clubs from as far as Cumbria giving their youngsters a chance to show their abilities.

Then it was the turn of the local lads to show their stuff:

Keiran Davies made his debut against McBride of Audley. Both gave a good clean and tangle-free performance with Davies taking the victory.

Fellow debutant Dave Murphy gave a good and solid performance against Feilds of Buxton. Murphy had the edge and landed solid punches in a points win.

Peter Bebbington faced the experienced Marcelsanka, from Leigh, and his clean, straight shots were enough to clinch the verdict.

There was great support for Liam Hanrahan in his match against Killeen.

He countered everything with great combinations and Killeen was disqualified for certain comments coming from his corner.

Michael Fitzpatrick faced a tough and experienced Betteridge and, although he displayed skill and accuracy, his opponent took a close win.

Sam Bradbury was always in control against Perry from Doncaster. Whenever Perry advanced, he was caught with counter and body shots from Bradbury, who won on points.

Luke Hawcroft slipped and ducked in the opening rounds against Saint. Although he ran out of steam, he had done enough to get the win.

Ben Cranshaw faced Rayner of Larches and Savick. Cranshaw, making his debut, came out to the attack of his opponent and kept his nerve, landing good sharp punches.

In a hard fought bout from both boxers, Cranshaw landed his first win.

Joe Collins was up against the experienced Buxton boxer Broomhead, who worked at range with his jab while Collins landed solid rights over the top.

Broomhead took the boxer of the night award and Joe Collins was awarded the most valiant runner-up title.

Kirk Cranthorne faced Stoke fighter Dale and after a stunning array of hooks and jabs, after three standing counts for Dale, the bout was stopped.
