Poynton’s Twenty20 vision

FOLLOWING the enormous success of last years Twenty20 invitation match at Poynton Cricket Club, another feast of cricket will be served up at the London Road ground on bank holiday Monday, August 29.

A World XI, captained by Poynton's West Indian star Derwin Thompson and featuring a host of hard-hitting professional overseas cricketers, take on a Poynton Invitation XI including some of the finest players from across the region.

Twenty20 cricket is all about entertainment - fast-moving, fast scoring with sixes and fours aplenty - and the all-star cast of cricketing celebrities will keep you glued to your seat.

There will be a full match commentary, top quality musical entertainment, an all-day bar and a great selection of food for all the family. The barbecue starts and the bar opens at 12 noon at Poynton on London Road North, with the match starting at 2pm.

For early arrivals, there is another intriguing Twenty20 contest from 10.45 am. Poynton Legends, over-40s Division Two winners, will challenge Division One champions Toft.

Tickets are adults £2 and u16s £1, which covers both games - just pay at the gate.

• FOR the fourth time this season, a Poynton home match was washed out. No play was possible in their scheduled game with Christleton in the Cheshire County League Premier.
