FALIBROOME under-18s Girls' Hockey Team will represent the North of England as the best sides from all over the country meet in the new year.

The team, led by the coaching duo of Richard Hopkin and Sarah Locke, were crowned regional champions at the Northern Finals in Blackpool this month and will now travel to Nottingham to take on the best schools from the South, East, West and Midlands.

After dominating the Cheshire qualifying tournament with victories against King's Chester (6-0), Queen's Chester (6-0), Lymm (1-0) and Bishop's Heber (5-0), they went through to the North West finals.

Here, victories against the champions of Mersyside and West Yorkshire and a penalty shootout win against Sedbergh set up an appearance in the Northern Final.

An opening match victory against Wakefield (5-2) set the tone, before a 4-1 win against Altrincham gave the girls a final game against Barnard Castle where a draw would be enough to win the competition. The goal-less result meant Falibroome won on goal difference.
