JAMES Pickford is ready to step into the big time as he prepares for his first-ever season in the MSA British Touring Car Championships.

The Macc driver was last week voted 2004 British Club Driver of the Year by readers of Autosport Magazine and will replace Rob Huff in the Seat Sport UK team for the 2005 season, which begins in February.

Pickford took three race wins, nine podiums, six fastest laps, six poles and finished 11 out of the 12 rounds in the top four to win last year's Seat title in style in his Haribo/Vivaldi Leon Cupra R, and will be an exciting addition to the squad insists Seat UK motorsport manager Scott Dennis.

"The SEAT Cupra Championship was created two years ago to promote young driving talent and for both its champions to be racing in the World and British Touring Car Championships in 2005 proves that the series delivers all that it promises.

"We are confident that James will do extremely well in the BTCC, and we will do all we can to continue to develop him as a driver."

• MACC-based rally team Simon Tuckman and Richard Elkin have taken the prestigious Dunlop B12 category in the British Trial and Rally Drivers Association Forest Series.

The pair received their award at a prestigious ceremony in Sutton Coldfield after picking up points in 10 events 10 events spread across the country.
