Local Golf Round-Up

TYTHERINGTON'S superb ladies teams completed a remarkable double as their A and B Teams both won their respective Cheshire team championships in the finals at Vicar's Cross.

The local lasses had qualified for the final by winning their East Cheshire A and B championships and they went on to make it a double celebration as the A Team beat Royal Liverpool and the B Team completed the double with victory over Delamere Forest.

The A Team also just missed out on adding the prestigious Elizabeth Wilson Scratch Trophy to their collection.

They took on Wilmslow at Sandiway and just lost out 3-2 with two of the games going down the 19th and the final result hanging on the final match on the 18th green.

Pauline Roberts and Sue Bury just missed out on more success for Tytherington as they lost out on a cpo on 36 points at Hale in the Manchester and District ladies Greensome Stableford to Suzanne Gee (Manchester) and Laura Gowers (Lowes Park).

Knockout honours have been handed out at Macclesfield with the B and P Clowes beating J Robinson and P Walker in the Men's Foursomes and J D'Arcy and J Browning edging out C Barnard and P Manning in the Men's Fourballs.

C Rodgers was the men's singles winner and the Mixed Foursomes trophy went to D Brereton and J Middleton from W and M Milligan.

• SHEILA Cassidy was a double winner at Shrigley Hall in the ladies championship. She won the gross prize with 169, well clear of Florence Trinder 192 then took the nett prize with 151 and again Florence Trinder was the bridesmaid on 160.
