Tommy’s top of the pots for England

22/ 9/2004

SNOOKER sensation Thomas Ainsworth-Smith helped England to victory in the Junior Home International tournament in Wales last week.

The 15-year-old from Macclesfield dropped only one frame in helping England's under-17s to an 11-7 victory against Wales in the final.

Having taken up snooker just five years ago, Thomas boasts an impressive international record for his country - winning 51 out of the 57 frames he has contested over four appearances.

Thomas will now turn his attention to the UK under-21s tournament in Prestatyn, where he can earn ranking points to qualify for the European Championships next year.

The youngster has been sponsored over the last couple of years by Stormguard UK, owned by local businessman Martin Almand-Smith.
