MACCLESFIELD suffered the heartbreak of being relegated without bowling a ball after the weather claimed their final game of the season at Oulton Park.

The Victoria Road side took just seven points from the cancelled game, which meant Alderley Edge needed only three batting points from their game at Oxton.

A half century from Ben Hanley helped them to an easy 150/5, condemning Macc to their first-ever relegation from the Premier League.

Following Macclesfield into division one are Didsbury, who lost by 23 runs at Nantwich to seal their fate.

One of the few shining lights for Macc this season has been the bowling of Ronnie Hillaby - and he finished the season as the joint-third top wicket taker with 52.

• BOLLINGTON'S Kevin Waterhouse took a brilliant 7-53 as his side finished the season in style against Timperley.

Having declared at 150/6 with Ball making 36, Waterhouse swept through the middle and lower order for season-best bowling figures.

Waterhouse was also the fourth top performer in the Second Division with the bat this season, with 724 runs. Jeff Cook was third top bowler, with 53 wickets.

• ELSEWHERE, there was defeat for Prestbury at home to Marple and Pott Shrigley at Windsford.
