Ann’s ace sparks bar celebration

ANN Stirling has become the first golfer to achieve a hole-in-one on the new 18th green at Macclesfield.

Ann, a local GP has limited opportunities to play golf and usually joins the business ladies when they play in the early evening.

The 29-handicapper has been a member at Macclesfield for eight years and from the 18th tee she hit a five wood on the 142-yard hole.

With the pin slightly obscured, Ann could not see where her tee shot had finished and after looking over the back of the green her playing partner told her to check the hole!

It was Ann's first ace which will go down in club history and certainly set up a great celebration in the club bar.

• MACCLESFIELD juniors played a medal and produced some super scores.

Nick Potts led in Division One with a nett 60 and Michael Tomlinson posted 69 to win division two.
