Munroe blast at club’s ambition

KARL Munroe has criticised Macclesfield Town's "lack of ambition" after the club placed Danny Adams on the transfer list at the end of last week.

The centre half, who is one of several players who are yet to agree a deal for next season at the Moss Rose, said the club should be "fighting" to keep players of Adams' calibre as they prepare to enter the final few months of the season.

Munroe has been a virtual ever-present in Macc's line-up this season, but admits he will probably leave the club in the summer whether they avoid relegation or not.

He said: "I have got one or two options available to me, and if they are better than Macclesfield Town's offer then I will be leaving the club."

"You have to question the club's ambition. Danny Adams is one of the best left backs in the league."

"We are in a relegation dogfight so we should be fighting to keep players like Danny, George Abbey, Jon Miles and Matty Tipton."

"Are they just happy to stay where they are? Danny wants to push on as do most of the lads here. You have to sort out your best players if you want to go forwards and improve."

Speaking after the game against Carlisle United, Macclesfield manager John Askey said there had been "no falling out" between Munroe, Adams or the club.

He said: "Karl did well again today. He knows that the club want to keep him."

Club directors have said they want to make sure the club avoid relegation to the Conference before offering contracts to any other players.
