Matt doubt for Torquay

MATTY Tipton is rated at 50-50 to make the trip to face Torquay United this Saturday.

The striker withdrew from Macc's 1-0 home defeat against Cambridge United after only 20 minutes with a back injury, and is only set to start training again on Thursday.

Centre-half Karl Munroe also fell awkwardly on his ankle during training and is rated as "doubtful" by manager John Askey.

The Silkmen will already be without Steve Macauley, Danny Adams (both suspended), George Abbey (international duty), Tommy Widdrington, Neil Ross, Neil Robinson, marvin MacDonald and David Smith (all injured), but Silkmen boss Askey is making no excuses.

"We're suffering a little bit at the moment," he told us. "Between injuries, suspensions and international call-ups we are a little thin on the ground. But we has about nine players out on Saturday and were still able to compete.

Jon Beswetherick will deputise for Danny Adams at left-back with Matt Haddrell and Martin Carruthers set to step in from the bench.
