Eaton set for long stay

SOCCER: David Eaton's stay at Macclesfield Town will be extended beyond this season if manager David Moss gets his way.

Moss has been given permission by Macc's board to discuss extending the 21-year-old attacker's contract until the end of the season.

But the manager would like to keep Eaton at the Moss Rose beyond the end of the season - as long as Macclesfield stay in the Football League.

Eaton is currently halfway through a three-month deal.

He joined the Silkmen on non-contract forms in September, after being released by Everton in the summer.

Eaton won a three-month deal after scoring with his first touch in league football at Kidderminster in October.

Moss is expected to begin talks with the forward when his current deal nears its end next month.

The manager said: "I've had a word with David. He's done well.

"I think he's had his best games for us when he's come off the bench.

"He's a baby in footballing terms. He's only played half a dozen or so games at this level - mostly as a sub.

"But he's got an eye for goal, he's learning and he's going to get stronger.

"He will be a better player next season. In another six or seven months, he will really start to show what he can do."
