Watford a welcome foe

11/12/2002

SOCCER: Watford at home is a bit of a welcome draw for Macclesfield.

Manager David Moss is hopeful of plotting a surprise result against the Division One outfit.

Elsewhere, director Mike Rance has got the next best thing to the near-miss of a Manchester United tie - his boyhood favourites Watford.

Manager David Moss said: "I'm quite pleased with it. It's another home draw.

"Watford's away form is not very good, so we could cause an upset if they are off form and we are at the top of our game."

Meanwhile, director Mike Rance said: "I'm disappointed that it wasn't Manchester United, because financially that would have been a great tie for us.

"But from a personal perspective, this is the tie I've always dreamed about.

"I supported Watford for nearly 40 years, and it was only when I became involved with Macclesfield that I really drifted away. But my loyalties on the day will lie with Macclesfield - absolutely no question. I'll be 100 per cent behind the Blues."

If you want to see Macclesfield Town's big FA Cup game, make sure you get to this Saturday's league clash with Rushden and Diamonds.

That was the message from the Silkmen after they announced plans to issue cup vouchers to non-season ticket holders at the Rushden game.

A voucher will guarantee a non-season ticket holder the chance to buy a ticket for Macc's third round home clash with Watford, to be played on January 4.

Season ticket holders will still get the chance to buy their cup tickets first, from today (Wednesday).

But voucher holders will be next in the queue. They can buy tickets from next Wednesday (December 18). Tickets will then go on open sale from Friday, December 27.
