Priest aims for a cup return

5/12/2002

SOCCER: Chris Priest is aiming to return to the Macclesfield line-up this weekend as he fights an ankle injury.

The midfielder missed Macc's trip to Cambridge last Saturday.

But manager David Moss said that Priest's return this weekend was a possibility.

Moss is likely to be without Lee Hardy though.

The left-sided midfielder picked up a thigh strain in the warm up at Cambridge on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Matt Tipton will miss Macclesfield's match against Rushden a week on Saturday.

Tipton picked up a one-match ban after collecting his fifth booking of the season at Cambridge after throwing the ball away late in the second half.

Macclesfield's two wing-backs - Danny Adams and Steve Hitchen - are both one booking away from a ban.

Paul Aldridge has had a successful operation on a broken bone in his foot.

The midfielder has been out since August after twice breaking his metatarsal bone - a similar injury to the one suffered by David Beckham before the World Cup.

Aldridge is expected to be out of action until late January.
