Leaders to be the next test

RU: The last time Macclesfield entertained Morley was way back in 1995 in the then Pilkington Cup Second Round.

The Blues won a hard fought game 18-6 against a side then two leagues higher.

Steve Burnage kicked several penalties on the day to win it for Macc.

Morley were relegated from National League North Three last season, along with Sandal and West Hartlepool.

Of the three, they look to be making the biggest efforts for a quick return, with the recruitment of Colin Stephens from Sedgley Park to kick the goals.

Before last weekend's surprise defeat at the hands of Darlington, Morley had beaten Chester (24-7) Driffield (25-21) Cleckheaton (19-13) Aspatria (18-13) and West Hartlepool (29-8).

They will clearly be a tough team to beat, but Macclesfield must aim to make Priory Park a fortress - ensuring no-one leaves with points if they are to have a say at the top of the league.

George Browning, who missed the Cleckheaton game through injury, should be able to return.

But Matt Brown received a chest injury in that game and must be doubtful for consideration.

Five-try Jim Watts will be in the reckoning after the seconds' demolition of Sandbach, but a little more creativity outside of the scrum will be required to break down what will be again a dour defence.
