Dibble foils Macc

26/ 8/2002

SOCCER: Macclesfield 0 Wrexham 1

Ex-Manchester City keeper Andy Dibble produced a string of fine saves to foil a frustrated Silkmen.

The Welsh international - who hooked up with Wrexham in the summer after a spell at Stockport - made a number of eye-catching stops.

None more so than his 62nd effort from a Kyle Lightbourne strike.

The Bermudan forward's effort was fierce and low but Dibble managed to get a fingertip to the ball to push it past the post.

It proved costly. Five minutes later Wrexham substitute Hector Sam finished off Lee Trundle's cross.

There were plenty of close shaves for the hosts from the off.

Striker Matty Tipton's fine run released Lee Glover in the opening stages, but his powerful shot couldn't beat Dibble.

On the half-hour Chris Priest saw a six-yard snap shot stopped by Dibble, while Karl Munroe placed a header two feet wide late on.
