Imps fully prepared for Macc

26/ 8/2002

SOCCER: A shaken-up Silkmen travel to Lincoln City today (Monday) - with the Imps putting in extra work for the clash.

Lincoln lost their derby clash against league new boys Boston United at the weekend - leading to manager Keith Alexander bringing the players in for training on Sunday.

Alexander was particularly disappointed with former Hyde United striker Simon Yeo, who was sent off for kicking out.

"I'm disappointed with the result as much as anything else but to have a man sent off like that was ludicrous and Simon will pay for that," Alexander told the club's website.

"Against eleven men you're struggling. Their keeper's won the man of the match and if you look at the saves Alan Marriott's had to make I think you can count them on one hand so that tells you all you need to know."

Meanwhile, Macclesfield manager David Moss was left to reflect on a defeat at home to Wrexham that hinged on another deflected goal.

"That's the third deflection we've had against us in our games. I don't know if it's just bad luck or if there is something we'll need to work on.

"I was pleased with the performance overall, but it's a pity we didn't take our chances."

Moss is set to make changes for the clash, adding: "I'm going to shake things up for the Lincoln game on Monday and we'll definitely see some new faces.

"It's not that the performance was bad, it's more that we have new men available and others coming back from injury."
